A made-to-measure hallway cabinet solves it: an open bay for the buggy, coats at child height and at yours, a seat with a drawer under it, and closed cabinets for everything that need not be seen.

The buggy bay
An open bay of 60 by 110 centimetres with a smooth floor, so the buggy rolls in instead of standing in the hallway. Above it a shelf for helmets and bags.
Coats at two heights
Hooks at 90 centimetres for the children and a rail at 170 for the adults. Children who can hang up their own coat do so.
Under the stairs
In almost every new-build home there is a triangle under the stairs that is a junk cupboard. Drawers and pull-out bays cut to the treads turn it into the storage of the whole hallway.
Sitting and storing
A 45-centimetre seat with a drawer underneath for shoes. The seat is also where the smallest gets their shoes on without anyone on the floor.

Frequently asked questions
Our hallway is only 1.10 wide, can there be a cabinet?
Yes, with a depth of 35 centimetres and sliding doors. Coats then hang sideways on a pull-out rail.
Can the buggy bay be closed later?
Yes, we keep the size of a door. When the buggy is gone, a door goes in front and it is a normal cabinet.
What about the meter cupboard in the hallway?
It stays accessible; the cabinet stops beside it or we build a free bay in front with a separate door.
