Lead time for a made-to-measure cabinet: why we promise three weeks
Order a made-to-measure cabinet and you will usually hear a lead time of four to eight weeks, sometimes longer at the large online suppliers. We promise three weeks from approval to installed, and usually manage two. That is not a trick but a different way of working.
- Usual in the Netherlands: four to eight weeks, longer at the large suppliers
- With us: three weeks from approval to installed, usually two
- Late? 100 euros off per working day, up to 1,000 euros
Where the time goes elsewhere
At a national supplier your design goes from a configurator to a sales department, then to a draughtsman, then to a factory elsewhere in the country or across the border, then to a planner and finally to an installation crew that has never seen the house. Every handover costs days, and every handover is a chance for an error that only shows up during installation.
Three things we do differently
First: six finishes our supplier keeps in stock, cut, edged and drilled in one operation. No waiting for a board. Second: hardware in our own stock. Hinges, drawer runners and adjustable feet sit in the workshop, not at a wholesaler. Third: the same crew measures, makes and installs. No drawing travels between parties, and the fitter who installs the cabinet measured the wall himself.
What the schedule looks like
Day one is the price estimate on the site. Days two to four we come to measure with samples. Day five you receive the quote with a fixed price and installation day. Days six to nineteen are production in the workshop. By day twenty-one at the latest the cabinet is in, installed by two fitters, with filler strips cut to size on site.
What makes it longer
Spraying in a RAL colour needs drying time and goes to a spray shop; count on five to six weeks. Veneer is ordered material. Moving sockets or pipes needs an electrician or plumber and we plan that separately. We name all of that in advance, in the quote, with its own date.
What if we are late
Every working day later than the agreed installation day you get one hundred euros off, up to a thousand. That agreement is in the quote. It only lapses if you move the date yourself.
Your price estimate in one minute
Four choices, an instant range. Then we call you to plan a measuring visit, if you want us to.
Give us a call. Within five minutes you know what your cabinet costs.
The estimate above is a range, because we have not seen your wall yet. On the phone we ask three questions and then you get a price you can count on. No sales talk, no emails back and forth.
- A price within five minutes instead of a range
- Planning benefit of up to 250 euros if you are flexible on the installation day
- A measuring appointment straight away, usually within three working days
Available on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00 and Saturdays until 17:00.
That planning benefit is not a sales trick. If we are already working in your neighbourhood that week, it saves us travel time and half a day of setting up. We pass that saving on, up to 250 euros. Tell us on the phone that you are flexible with the date and we will see what fits the schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Can it be faster than three weeks?
In new-build districts with straight walls, such as Ypenburg and Leidschenveen, we often manage two weeks. With a moving date we plan for that deliberately.
Do the three weeks also apply to a five-metre wall unit?
Yes, as long as it is in the six standard finishes. Bigger mainly means more workshop hours, and we plan those in.
Why do other suppliers say six to eight weeks?
Because their process has more handovers and their production is centralised. It is not a matter of working harder but of organising shorter.
